One important part of FSA’s mission is to develop quality in healthcare and nursing – commencing with resources allocated and our own professional competence.
The Association has, therefore, initiated
- a quality policy,
- a quality council,
- quality representatives in branches
In connection with the introduction of National [Swedish] Board of Health and Welfare regulations (SOSFS 1993:9) on quality assurance in healthcare and nursing, including dental care the question of more active quality work by the Association became accentuated. In 1994 FSA set up a reference group for quality work. In Spring 1996 the reference group was transformed into a quality council and the local branches of FSA were invited to appoint quality delegates. The regulations and general guidelines with respect to quality systems in healthcare and nursing came into force on 1 January 1997 (SOSFS 1996:24) further defined the responsibility for quality development in healthcare.
Our work with quality also includes developing, processing and assessing quality tools that can constitute a sound basis for work on quality assurance in occupational therapy.
